PROGRAMME PIECE | Tamworth

Back to Blogs

Welcome to Victory Park for our fifth(!) home fixture in a row. A warm welcome to our visitors from Tamworth this evening, we hope you enjoy your visit to Lancashire.

Just touching briefly on the charity event from Saturday evening in the social club – what an extremely successful evening. Kudos to everyone who helped piece the day and night together to make it such a success. You are all responsible for helping to raise a staggering amount for a worthy cause. On a personal note and despite the circumstances which brought us together, I was honoured to have been given chance to be host for the evening and be part of the Magpie Family.

At the time of writing the Southport article, Magpies Trust membership sat at 111 which was just under 10% representation of our average attendance. I’m pleased to tell you that it has risen again and now stands at 116. Thank you to everyone who has joined the Trust and will be a part of our organisation as we continue this journey with Chorley Football Club.

It’s great that the word of the Trust is making its way further around the terraces at Victory Park and people are making the decision to join as well as become more vocal. I often get stopped when walking around the ground and the conversations usually start with “Can I ask…” or “Can you help”. Yes. The answer is always yes. Any member of the Trust board will always give time to answer any questions. If we don’t know the answer then we will do our best to find out for you.

All board members of the Trust can be easily identified on matchdays with our lanyards, or you can head directly to our HQ which – if you don’t know by now – is the black cabin on the Ashby Street side of the ground.

Do you want to be part of this journey? You can register as a member of the trust through a few easy steps on our website or speak with a representative at Trust HQ. If you can give some of your time then consider becoming a volunteer. We have a range of roles available and will always take general help around the trust.

Finally, if you are one of the Magpies making their way down to Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday then I wish you a very safe and pleasant journey. It was enjoyable doing Lowestoft and Eastleigh via the air. Despite being round the corner from Stansted, most Chorley fans will be using either the M6 or national rail.

Julian.
