COACH TRAVEL | Peterborough Sports - Update

Back to Blogs

We are delighted to announce a reduction in travel costs for our final regular game of the season as we make the journey to Peterborough Sports. Before we give details of these changes we thought it would be beneficial to be as transparent as possible about the away travel and update supporters on the financials of such services.

Despite the end of the season being very near last weekend we ran our first official away coach of the campaign after many requests from supporters. Organising away travel can take a lot of volunteer time and also runs the risk of the trust losing a substantial amount of money if the demand is not high enough. The Buxton and Peterborough games have been set as test events and given the difference in travel distance and time they will be key indicators on how many are willing to travel to a variety of grounds.

The coach to Buxton had fourteen empty seats - Without the support of Crowberry Consulting, this could would have run at a loss of just over £200. With 23 away games per season, at a £200 loss each time, this would cost the Trust £4,600. That's equivalent to income generated from 460 adult members or 77 super fans at £5 per month. If the trust are to continue pursuing our aims of supporting the club, the community and acquiring further shares then we cannot justify losing £4,600 over the course the season.

Prior to the Buxton game, both Julian Vass and Pete Thompson walked around the ground to greet supporters and to ask about their experience on the coach - Nothing but positivity.

We want everyone to #BePartOfIt and join the #MagpiesFamily and with this in mind we are introducing the following price structure for the journey to Peterborough Sports.

Adult (Non-member) - £25 - This price includes £10 towards your membership of Magpies Trust for the next 12 months.
Adult (Member) - £15
Under 16s - £10
