MATCH PREVIEW | King's Lynn Town

Back to Blogs

Most Magpies chewed over "the goal that never was" for the remainder of last season but, in truth, we were never fighting for our playoff position based on that result, although those three points would have certainly helped. The Linnets side that will return to Victory Park will largely be unrecognisable to the last and it was that afternoon in April that began the process. Before the weekend was out, manager Tommy Widdrington had stepped down from his position, later to emerge as the new Aldershot Town manager. For the 2023/24 season a slew of players have followed him. The Linnets have also lost top marksman Gold Omotayo to AFC Fylde and captain Michael Clunan to Scunthorpe United. The Linnets have matched the Magpies' results to start the season, three draws against Hereford, Curzon Ashton and Gloucester City, and a single defeat at the hands of Chester. They will have wanted more, and with the Magpies desperate for their first win of the season, today's fixture should, hopefully, be an intriguing contest.
