FUNDRAISING | PUSH 4 PROMOTION

Back to Blogs

With the support of our members and the wider Chorley FC community, we have successfully increased our foothold in our Club by raising our holding to 10%.

Whilst it is still a minority shareholding, it shows Magpies Trust's commitment towards Chorley Football Club, Andy Preece, his backroom and playing team, and of course the working partnership with our majority owners which is progressing positively.

As part owners of our Club, it becomes some of our responsibility to ensure that the manager receives the financial support he deserves in order for the Club to play at its highest level possible.

Andy has successfully created a small but hardworking, competitive squad that currently sits 3rd in the National League North with full-timers and ex-football league Scunthorpe United within reach at the top of the table. Unfortunately, due to the National League fixture scheduling, instead of a local bumper Christmas fixture, we were paired with Spennymoor Town of the North East – these festive fixtures have the potential to be a real earner for the clubs involved.

We have had discussions with Andy and Club Chairman Jamie Vermiglio on how the Trust can support the team further going into the business end of the season.

Introducing ‘Push4Promotion'.

With your help, we want to raise at least £4,000 which can be used to either assist in the medical aspect of the current squad or help make that special addition which could be the difference between promotion or not.

We would like to ensure Andy has the full squad available and, if needed, is given the option to add that extra boost – Marco Rus comes to mind.

This is where you, the fantastic supporters of Chorley Football Club, show the players and management team how much we really want our town to be represented on the footballing map.

A small bit of research has shown that Chester managed to raise £116,458 for their budget booster at the start of the season whilst Darlington’s total was £162,070, with £40,000 being raised on day one.

Our opponents over the Christmas period, Spennymoor Town, have spread their fundraising across a 5 year period and have managed to pay £4125 for pitch heaters, £2750 for medical kit, £8000 for seats around Brewery Field and £7000 to improve the turnstiles at their ground.

What’s stopping us from doing the same?

Collections for the fund will be taken on our Local Giving page where we can also receive gift aid giving us that extra boost. You can also give a donation by cash or card at any home fixture or via online banking using the details below.
