EVENT | Festive food bank collection

Back to Blogs

As we have done in previous years, Magpies Trust are supporting Living Waters Church in Chorley during the festive season by organsing a foodbank collection on various dates throughout December.

What is a foodbank?

A food bank is a charitable organisation or community-based initiative that collects, stores, and distributes food to individuals and families in need.

How can I help?

We are asking supporters to bring at least 1 item on the list below to our collection. Each item will be greatly accepted and passed on to Living Waters in time for them to distribute for Christmas Day. If one supporter brought one item, we would have at least 1000 items to hand over to the foodbank.

What is accepted?

Non-perishable goods such as canned food, rice, pasta, cereal, and more. Look through your cupboards, and if you can spare even a few items, it can go a long way in helping those in need.

You can keep updated on what the foodbank is running low on by using the Bankthefood app – Currently their most needed items are listed below.

·        Tinned meats (hotdogs, tinned ham, stewed steak/mince, corned beef, spam)

·        Tea bags – very low stock!

·        Coffee

·        Long life milk

·        Rice

·        Tins of Mac n cheese, meatballs, ravioli

·        Shampoo, shower gel and soap

·        And of course… Christmas treats.

When are the collections?

2nd December – Outside the club shop at Victory Park

7th December – At our Christmas Quiz event

9th December – Outside the club shop at Victory Park.

12th December – Outside the club shop at Victory Park.

Please note for safety reasons, on matchdays the items must be left with the Trust representative outside the ground.
