Achievements of the Magpies Trust
On this page, you can keep up to date with the progress and achievements of the Magpies Trust. If you're a member, we hope that this makes you feel that you are getting value for money. All of the Trust's efforts are in line with the Aims of the Magpies Trust, and are loosely organised under these Aims in the list below.
Achievements so far:
Strengthen the bonds between Chorley FC and the community
Encourage Chorley FC to take account of the interests of its supporters and the local community
- Before the 2004/05 season Chorley fans chose the colour of the away kit, replacing the unpopular light blue strip
Encourage supporter representation on the Chorley FC board
- The Trust is in regular informal contact with the Chorley FC Board
- Until 2006, the Trust's Club Liaison Officer attended part of each Chorley FC board meeting
Promote coaching schemes for young people and raise the profile of Chorley FC
- The Trust has funded several members to take coaching qualifications, increasing the number of qualified coaches in Chorley.
- A three day coaching course for local children was held at Victory Park in August 2005
- Music festival ChorFest was held at Victory Park in 2005
Encourage and support Chorley FC's board in their efforts to promote interest in the Club
- The Trust reopened the club shop and restarted the merchandising operation after a period without a shop. Seven years later, the club shop is still going, now operated by Chorley FC.
- In 2005, two Commercial Development Executives were recruited to bring in sponsorship from local businesses
- We have attracted numerous local businesses such as AA Windscreens and European Hose to sponsor the club
Other
- Several thousands of pounds given to Chorley FC in sponsorship, including pitch-side advertising boards and match sponsorship packages. It is Trust policy to help the club by taking up sponsorship and buying goods rather than handing money over directly
- Sundry items of kit have been donated to the club, including white shorts to avoid colour clashes and footballs for training
- The Trust recruited almost 100 members in its first season
